FAQ
General
We ask that participants be at least 6 years of age and up for classes, but can schedule private lessons for those younger than six years old.
We are home to two separate indoor facilities. We also offer customers the use of our outdoor side range free of charge, which has distances up to 50 yards.
While we have bales that can be set to closer distances, the back target wall reaches 18m. Do you take walk-ins?

Yes! Our range is open to walk-ins anytime provided that lane space is available.
Crossbow shooting is not authorized on the Academy ranges.
We ask that you have either shot before at another range or have completed our beginner level Discovery class before you come on your own.
No! We offer a variety of rentals here at the range. The equipment rental cost is $10/hour.
Our facilities are closed, New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. We close early on New Year's Eve and Christmas Eve at 3pm.
Classes/Private Bookings
Awesome! We’d recommend you try our one-hour Discover Class geared toward beginners, or stop by the range and speak with one of our instructors for additional guidance.
For beginners, we’d recommend starting with either the one-time Discover Class or the 6-week Experience Class. For intermediate shooters, it’s best to schedule a private lesson with one of our instructors so we can assess the best fit.
We ask that any children under the age of 16 be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Our Groupon voucher is redeemable for the Discover class. On our website you can go through the booking process selecting a date and time you’d like to attend. During payment there will be a time that you are able to submit the numbers from your Groupon.
We do! Call us or check out our page offered on our website for more information on booking and rates.
Yes, but on a case-to-case basis. Please call the Academy for further details.
We ask that you arrive at least 5 minutes before your class starts so that we may maintain our schedule.
If you do have to miss a class, just let an Academy staff member know and they will supply you with a voucher for one hour of free range time as a makeup.
Please call the Academy or email info@lancasterarcheryacademy.com to communicate with one of our staff members so they can assist you.
Safety/Inclement Weather
Please wear comfortable clothing with closed toe-shoes.
If the Academy needs to close due to inclement weather, we will post updates on our main webpage.
Archery 101
There are many different styles within the sport of archery. The most common are: traditional, barebow recurve, Olympic recurve, and compound. Each style uses its own unique pieces of form and equipment, but they all share the same underlying process. The best way to find out more is to get involved with your local range and by asking questions. There’s always a lot to learn!
The JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Development) program was created by USA Archery decades ago to produce competitive Olympic athletes for the world stage. Designed for youth archers under the age of 21, our JOAD club is structured to help athletes climb the competitive ladder to a National, or even a World, title.
